I am from Barletta, in southern Italy, and I completed my academic training at the University of Bari “Aldo Moro”, where I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and a Master’s degree in Bioinformatics.
During my studies, I developed a strong interest in biology and human genetics, which led me to focus on the statistical and bioinformatic analysis of complex genetic traits.
During my Master’s thesis, which focused on substance use disorders in an Apulian cohort, I gained hands-on experience with GWAS pipelines, bioinformatics tools, and data analysis in R and Python.
I currently work at the Institute of Clinical Molecular Biology (IKMB) in Kiel, where I conduct genome-wide association studies (GWAS) and bioinformatic analyses of large-scale genetic datasets, with a particular focus on investigating the genetic basis of complex diseases, including varicose veins and HIV-related conditions.
In my free time, I enjoy staying active by playing football and working out. Although I currently live abroad, I have always remained very close to my family and friends, and we often plan trips together to visit new places.
