Chiara Santoro, MSc

I was born in Brindisi (south of Italy), and my educational path began with a diploma as an IT specialist. Over time, however, my curiosity about the functioning of complex biological systems, combined with my interest in technology, led me to pursue studies in Biology and subsequently to obtain a Master’s Degree in Bioinformatics, a discipline that allowed me to combine these two passions.

Throughout my career, I have collaborated with several academic research groups, working on the development of software for scientific applications, statistical analysis, and the management of clinical databases and complex biomedical data for research at the University of Brescia, the University of Pavia, and the University of Bari.

Currently, I am responsible for managing the IT infrastructure and the activities carried out on the HPC server of the Medical Genetics Laboratory at LUM University, supporting researchers’ computational needs and the development of bioinformatics pipelines.

After several changes in my professional path and personal challenges, I realized that what fascinates me most about research is the possibility of understanding the hidden mechanisms that regulate biological systems. Thus, each project represents an opportunity to learn, face new challenges, and transform data into knowledge, allowing me to glimpse, behind the complexity of data, “The Matrix”.

In my free time, I enjoy nature hiking and painting, activities that allow me to nurture my creativity, slow down my pace, and regain balance away from computer screens.
